Rule 1: You and everyone are always playing The Game.
Rule 2: Whenever you think about The Game, you instantly lose it.
Rule 3: When you lose The Game, you must announce your loss to someone.
You have just lost The Game. The Game is a mind virus, an abstract mental game, which consists of one sole purpose: not to think of The Game and, ultimately, forget that it even exists. If you didn't know what it was before, you are now trapped and cursed to lose, just like many millions of other players world wide.
Studies show that it probably all started when two sound engineers (Dennis Begley and Gavin McDowall) missed their last train and were stuck at the station for the whole night. They both tried not to be reminded of their bad situation and whoever did first, lost the game. And so, The Game was born!
Nowadays, it all starts when you see or hear it for the first time, think it's a pretty silly idea and end up forgetting it. But days or weeks later, someone says something that reminds you of The Game. You feel haunted by the 3rd Rule (loss of The Game must be announced), and don't want to cheat at such a pointless game, so you say the words... "I lost The Game."
- "What game?"
And the game is on.
Spreading The Game like an incurable virus is also the goal of many players, like the members of #
TheGameCommunity, who put their soul into making as many people lose all over the world as possible, by painting The Game in colours so bright they could be seen from other dimensions!
On another note, The Game is also a great chance to bring like-minded people together. You could meet your best friend by going into a crowded room and shouting The Game; whoever answers is likely to have something in common with you and you could tell they're probably just as awesome as you are!
Many groups of friends familiar with The Game can also have a great time pulling funny stunts and pranks on eachother to make them lose The Game. Things like sticky notes in drawers and walls, writting The Game in notebooks and school books and even announce their loss at an oral presentation.
So whether it be for your own feeling of accomplishment, or just to annoy everyone else, you are always playing The Game and since there's no escaping from it, why not turn it into something fun and enjoyable? The Game is probably the only way to make losing a victory and I can proudly say, I have never been addicted to a game for this long and still enjoy playing it all the time.
